AMOB UK were approached with a requirement to bend stainless steel in both box and tube profiles, using a single machine. Making parts for oil rig transport pods, their application was to improve on their current manufacturing procedure. Previously, they were cutting several lengths of mitered material and welding them to form their parts. Now, however, the company are able to bend their parts in single pieces. This not only improves the quality of their parts, but reduces manufacturing time in production. By cutting out lengthy welding operations, there is less room for failure, and more time for producing quality fabricated parts.

The CN2 nature of this electromechanically operated tube bending machine is one level less than fully CNC automated. In this instance, CN2 in an AMOB bending machine would mean that both the bend angle and the tube rotation throughout multi-bend parts are fully completed by a computer guided system. This leaves only the positioning of the tube left to a human operator of the machinery.

Ø CN1 models control only the bend angle of the tube via NC automation. Operators of this machine are required to rotate and position the tube between bends, if necessary.

Ø CN2 models include NC bend angle operation and NC tube rotation. Operators of these machines are only required to position the tube between bends, if necessary. 

Ø CN3 models include NC bend angle operation, NC tube rotation and NC positioning of the tube. Operators of these machines can run all steps from the control panel to produce a complete multi-bend part.

 Ø CNC models include CNC bend angle operation, CNC tube rotation and CNC positioning of the tube. Operators of these machines run all steps with the press of a button to produce a complete multi-bend part, with the advantage of many more CNC features.
