AMOB UK Delivers Full-Electric Bending Power to Global Shipbuilding Leader with eMOB 63 and 150 Installation

AMOB UK is pleased to announce the successful installation and commissioning of two state-of-the-art fully electric tube bending machines – an eMOB 63 and an eMOB 150 – for a world-renowned leader in high-speed commercial and defence shipbuilding.

Following a series of stringent Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) at AMOB’s headquarters, these machines have now been fully integrated into the client’s UK production facility. This strategic investment allows the shipbuilder to significantly scale up its manufacturing of complex piping systems and structural components for advanced aluminium vessels.

Precision Engineering for the Marine Industry

In the shipbuilding sector, where precision and material integrity are non-negotiable, the transition to full-electric technology provides a massive competitive advantage. Aluminium piping, often used in marine environments for its lightweight and corrosion-resistant properties, requires delicate yet firm handling to avoid wall thinning or ovality issues.

The eMOB series excels in this environment:

  • The eMOB 63: Provides rapid, high-precision bending for intricate fuel, water, and hydraulic lines.
  • The eMOB 150: A heavy-duty powerhouse capable of processing large-diameter tubes (up to 150mm OD) required for main engine systems and structural frameworks.

Success from FAT to Installation

The project’s success was underpinned by the comprehensive FAT process. This allowed the client’s engineering team to verify the machines’ performance with their specific marine-grade alloys before the units even left the factory.

By utilising AMOB’s 3D Software, the shipbuilder can now import CAD files directly, run collision simulations, and achieve “right-first-time” results.
