Manufacturer earns ‘Australian Made’ with in-house fabrication

AMOB’s recent client, an Australian based tapware and fittings specialist, has invested in their manufacturing capability with a fully electric tube bending machine. Having done this, they have earned the right to display the honored and respected green and gold logo of ‘Australian made.’

This logo is Australia’s most trusted, recognised, and widely used country of origin symbol. It is underpinned by a third-party accreditation system, ensuring products that carry the logo are certified as ‘genuinely Australian’.

For over 22 years, this family run business has grit, sweat, and challenged in their industry to earn their reputation. ‘We are making a significant investment in manufacturing equipment and infrastructure. It is a thrill to be building for the future, and to provide jobs, advanced capability, and pioneering research right here in Australia.’

The purchase of this machine comes on the back of years of outsourcing manufacturing operations overseas, to countries such as Asia. ‘This is an entirely new process for us. Previously we had been importing our parts, but long lead times, quality, and supply issues forced us to relook at the entire process.’ said a spokesperson.

Installed earlier in the summer, their fully electric 42mm bending machine is capable of bending Ø42mm with 2mm wall thickness. When asked what impact this investment will have on the company, it was said ‘The biggest benefit of bringing tube bending in-house is having control over the lead time. What took months before, now can take hours or days as we keep tube in stock and can make the parts as required,’ they added, ‘Another big benefit in buying from AMOB, is the improved quality!’

This installation follows the severe impacts from two years of pandemic restrictions. Despite numerous setbacks and obstacles, including significant international travel restrictions, AMOB UK made it work. There has been fantastic support from AMOB throughout the entire installation, setup, and production phases. Even though travel restrictions during COVID made it impossible for them to be onsite, they went out of their way to get it setup with remote support and video calls. We are very happy with their support to date!’ commented the spokesperson.

LEVELS OF AUTOMATION IN AMOB MANDREL BENDERS:

Ø CN1 models control only the bend angle of the tube via NC automation. Operators of this machine are required to rotate and position the tube between bends, if necessary.

Ø CN2 models include NC bend angle operation and NC tube rotation. Operators of these machines are only required to position the tube between bends, if necessary. 

Ø CN3 models include NC bend angle operation, NC tube rotation and NC positioning of the tube. Operators of these machines can run all steps from the control panel to produce a complete multi-bend part.

 Ø CNC models include CNC bend angle operation, CNC tube rotation and CNC positioning of the tube. Operators of these machines run all steps with the press of a button to produce a complete multi-bend part, with the advantage of many more CNC features.
